Frequently Asked Questions
How will I know if coaching is the right thing for me?
I offer a free 20 minute consultation for prospective clients which is a good opportunity for me to obtain some information concerning your needs. It is also a good opportunity us to see if it is the right fit for us both.
Where do the coaching sessions take place?
Currently the majority of life coaching sessions are online.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies from one person to another and also depends upon the needs of the client. This can be explored in more depth after an initial consultation.
Is a Mental Wellness Coach the same as a counsellor?
I do not treat mental health problems and am not a counsellor. Working in partnership with clients, I use a variety of methods to help them to manage their emotions in a healthy way to help them to have a more positive outlook on life. This may include looking at unhelpful thinking patterns or exploring positive coping strategies, better relationship skills or activities to enhance their emotional wellbeing. Whilst sessions may touch briefly upon the past, the main focus will be on the present and future. Mental Wellness coaching is not intended for those experiencing a mental health crisis or for those with un-managed or unstable mental health conditions. Additionally, clients must be functioning at a relatively good level to be suitable for this intervention and following on from an initial consultation, there ma be times when I have to recommend counselling or other alternative instead of coaching.
Is your profession regulated?
Life coaching is an unregulated profession. However, I am trained to a high standard and registered as a professional member of the Association For Coaching and work in accordance with their standards of practice and code of ethics. Clients are also asked to sign a coaching contract that outlines the obligations of both parties.
